EL Leadership Network
Steering Group
The Commission co-ordinates and currently chairs the Network. Volunteers from various agencies make up a Steering Group to oversee the Executive Level Leadership Network process including decisions on topics, speakers and overall directions.
The members of the 2008 Steering Group are:
- John Norton (APS Commission)
- Richard Hopkins (ACT Health)
- Tracey Pitts (Department of Defence)
- Stephen Grieve (Department of Veterans' Affairs)
- Luci Henson (Centrelink)
- Shirley Hedditch (Medicare Australia)
- Lionel Riley (Treasury)
- Marcia Gilrane (Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government)
- Greg Cheetham (Department of Human Services)
Network members are encouraged to suggest topics and speakers for upcoming network sessions. Please call 02 6202 3782 or email elln@apsc.gov.au if you have anything you would like to discuss.
The Leadership Development Network has undergone a name change, and is now known as the EL Leadership Network. The LDN had previously focussed on HR and L&D issues and membership attracted practitioners in these fields. The network proved to be very popular and reflected the broadening interest in leadership issues at the with EL level more generally across the APS. It is considered that the name change more accurately reflects the expanding network.
Upcoming Event
The last event in the 2008/2009 subscription series is a breakfast forum to be held on Thursday June 25 2009 at the National Press Club in Barton.
Mr Grant Tidswell, Acting Deputy CEO, Centrelink will be speaking on “Learning from Experiences – Participating in Emergency Responses”
The Victorian bushfires, floods across Queensland and New South Wales, swine flu and the Northern Territory Emergency Response have focussed attention on the role of government to act swiftly to alleviate suffering and help the recovery of communities. Centrelink has been among the key agencies in the Australian Government's response to recent disasters and emergencies. Grant Tidswell from Centrelink has been 'on the ground' and will share his perspectives on the best ways to help those in need. His insights are compelling for public servants wanting to support the speedy recovery of people and communities.
Subscriptions to the EL Leadership Network for 2009/2010 are now open.
