Media Release - Lynelle Briggs Elected as President of CAPAM

The Australian Public Service Commissioner, Ms Lynelle Briggs, was today announced as the new President of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) ahead of the Association’s 8th Biennial Conference in Barbados.
As a non-profit association, CAPAM represents an international network of 1100 senior public servants, Heads of Government, leading academics and researchers located in over 50 different countries across the Commonwealth. The association is guided by international leaders that believe in the value of networking and knowledge exchange and the promotion of good governance for the betterment of citizens across the Commonwealth.
Ms Briggs replaces the outgoing President, the Hon. Minister Geraldine Fraser Moleketi, Minister of Public Service and Administration in South Africa.
Ms Briggs will work with the CAPAM Board of Directors and Executive Director over the next year to promote the practical requirements of good governance, just and honest government across the Commonwealth countries and beyond. CAPAM provides a forum for the active exchange of innovations, knowledge and practice in citizen-centred service delivery, leadership development and growth, and public service management and renewal.
Ms Briggs brings to the position extensive public sector experience and a drive for taking the public services forward in the 21st century to meet new challenges.
The CAPAM conference in Barbados will bring together delegates from the 53-member Commonwealth to address a number of issues relating to efficient public sector management under the theme ‘Continuing the Shared Journey: Achieving Public Service Excellence’.
